The anamorphic lens look is a very popular aesthetic choice among filmmakers. Â Unfortunately, anamorphic lenses and adapters are quite expensive.
Earlier this year, we showed you how to create the anamorphic lens flare look using After Effects and Optical Flares, but this still leaves out a few characteristics of a real anamorphic lens.  One of which is the oval bokeh that anamorphic lenses create.
Timur Civan posted an article about a “device” he’s working on that will create the entire look of an anamorphic lens right in camera.  According to Timur, the device will be very inexpensive and work with a wide range of lenses.  See his first video example of the device in action below.
