Thank you very much, but now I have another problem. The utility program says ‘camera is not recognized’. Do you know how to solve this?

Ok guys. Â You have an updated firmware so you will need to download the latest and greatest update to the EOS utility software. Â Go to: Â http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_digital_rebel_xti_ef_s_18_55_kit#DriversAndSoftware

choose your OS version and then click on software updates… scroll down to EOS Uilility update and download and execute the file. Â Once you have updated it… your camera will work perfectly.

the update.plist has been removed from the utility update. i’m not sure this tutorial applies anymore. any updates?

after i downloaded the updater and it tells me either to browse cd-rom or specify the location of installed software, once i click on the software and locate it on my mac, it tells me “The software to updated cannot be found”. Could you please tell me how to fix this?? much appreciated!!!Â

Recently got myself a 550D and although I have the latest installer CD it wouldn’t install the software on my old iBook G4 running on 10.4. This little hack worked perfectly. I then downloaded the latest updater for the 550D from Canon and it works perfectly. Saved me having to update my laptop for the time being. Thanks for the tip.

Hi… I found the update.plist file but it will not let me delete it… any help welcome (yup, I’m one of those who misplaced the CD-ROM…)

I ran into that for a bit, then I realized I had downloaded the “dpp3114x.dmg” file near the top of the canon.com download page rather than the “k8526mux.dmg” at the bottom (look for the small print) of that page.Â The latter DOES still have the plist file you need, and it works!!Â Thanks for this fix!!

Thanks Austin, but I am not succeeding in getting the EOS Utility to install. I have done what your Video in 2010 said, but on my MAC OS X 10.6.8, I get a “Searching” bar that goes nowhere. Any ideas? Thank you,
