I recently purchased my first DSLR, a T3i, and one of the first events I plan on using it for is the 4th of July game for the minor league baseball team I make productions for. Being the 4th of July, fireworks will be a big part of the day’s festivities. Any chance you guys can cover how to shoot fireworks in next weeks DVTV?

Do you mean video or photo? cuz they shoot firework very different.
For video, there aren’t much you can do than get a rather wide angle lens which has good aperture. Â Set your shutter speed to 60 if you’re shooting 30fps or 24fps. Â
for photo, you really need a tripod and hopefully a cable release, so you can time your shutter speed.  Usually 2~5 second shutter speed will be great.  Your ISO stay relativity low of course (I keep it down to 100, fireworks are really bright, so if you have a lens that can get to 2.8~1.8 aperture or even lower, it should have no problem)
