Welcome to our brand new series, DV|TV. We are combining our many series (except HDSLR 101) into one variety show which will cover all things digital video.
In this episode, we review some new DSLR video gear from Jag35, including their shoulder rigs, batteries, monitor, magnifier and electronic follow focus.
Tony, after your review seems like Jag35 is more pain than pleasure.
In particular the motor noise .
Electronic and wireless follow focus systems always have some level of noise. The multi-thousand dollar ones just have super hi-end motors that have very little noise. I’ve seen some $1,500 FF systems that had just as much noise. The EFF is an extra tool but not a replacement for a traditional follow focus. Although, like I said in the review, the EFF lets me do things I couldn’t do with a traditional FF.
As for the rest of Jag35’s gear, I’ve always felt that they were one of the companies that bridged the gap between DIY and hi-end gear. They probably wouldn’t hold up to a Michael Bay production, but they fit my needs just fine.
Yes price way , sounds interesting, I’ll try one at NAB.
Thank you for your interesting and honest reviews
