Follow Focus Comparison | Redrock Micro vs. CineCity

In this episode, I compare the Redrock Micro V1 follow focus to the CineCity Pro Aim follow focus.
Great Stuff! I’ve been looking around for a follow focus for some time. Cheers
Thanks for the comparison Tony
Just a few points of clarification:
The Redrock V1 & 2 use the same gearbox as the cinecity model you showed. It is a fairly robust, generic, off-the-shelf gearbox that has (a manufacturers published spec) of 2 degrees of backlash. The Redrock guys have found a way to modify it to remove the backlash, the Indians have not. Hence the play in the cine city model and not the Redrock.
JAG35 re-sells the D|Focus through their site. It is $135 and has almost zero backlash like the Redrock model in this video.

I saw one of your videos on youtube in which you demo shooting video with either a canon 5d or 7d and you had a loupe on the lcd which was magnetic and had a big red or pink eyeypad ….what is the make of that loupe and where can I find one? thanks
@Ronald
There are loupes out there, but I prefer the LCDVF. It’s a great model and the price is fantastic.

I’m use to photography and just starting at video, obviously rigs are so expencive, can you use follow focus’without a rig? or do you need one ? because I dont want to be forking out the amount of money they over charge people for rigs.
